Teeth Whitening
Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with our “bleaching” options.
How does teeth whitening work?
In all methods of whitening, a gel is applied to the teeth that contains an ingredient similar to hydrogen peroxide. Peroxide is a natural “oxidizing” or “whitening” agent and is effective at removing intrinsic (inside the tooth) and extrinsic (on the surface) stains.
We offer three whitening options based on your time frame and budget:
- Whitening strips – Prefabricated plastic strips with the whitening gel already applied.
- Whitening trays – Custom-made plastic trays that fit over your teeth. The gel is squirted into the trays and the trays are worn for up to three hours.
- Zoom! Whitening System – Our in-office whitening option to give you the fastest results. In one appointment your teeth can get 8 to 13 shades whiter! Find out more on our Frequently Asked Questions page.
Just let us know at any appointment if you are interested in discussing whitening options. You can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower, depending on how much you show when you talk and smile. When your teeth reach the desired brightness, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile. We’ll want to take “after” photos at your next appointment.
Is it safe? Will it hurt?
Whitening is very safe and will not damage your enamel. Whitening is recommended for ages 12 and up. Some people may experience sensitivity during or after whitening, this is only temporary and can be controlled with sensitivity products or by decreasing the frequency of the whitening sessions.
